QURAN & THE HOLY PROPHET (SAWW)- SECTION 1

QURAN WAS REVEALED ON THE HOLY PROPHET (SAWW)

The Holy Quran is the Book of Allah (SWT), which was revealed on the Holy Prophet (saww).

“Indeed you receive the Quran, from One who is all-wise, all-knowing”.    (27:6)

“This is indeed (a Book) sent down by the Lord of the worlds, brought down by the Trustworthy Spirit, upon your heart, so that you may be one of the warners. In a clear Arabic language. It is indeed (foretold) in the scriptures of the ancients”. (26:192-196)

QURAN – THE PRIDE OF THE HOLY PROPHET (SAWW)

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as) has reported from his grandfather Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (as) who said, “Indeed the Holy Prophet (saww) himself said,  ‘I have been given five such things that no prophet before me was given:

• I have been made the Prophet for entire mankind (of all colours)
• The earth has been made place of worship (Sajdah) and pure for me.
• Allah made me victorious by inspiring awe (fear in my enemies)
• War booty has been made lawful for me, which was never made lawful on the previous prophets.
• I have been given Jawame’ al-Kalim.”

When asked, “What is Jawame’ al-Kalim?” He (as) replied, “Quran”.

RECITATION OF QURAN

The Holy Prophet (saww) used to recite the Holy Quran to the people. This has been stated in the Holy Quran itself.

“Allah certainly favoured the faithful when He raised up among them an apostle from among themselves to recite to them His signs and to purify them, and to teach them the Book and wisdom, and earlier they had been in manifest error”. (3:164)

The Holy Prophet (saww) once told Ibn Mas’ood, “Recite Quran!” Ibn Mas’ood asked, “O Prophet of Allah! Should I recite when the Quran was revealed upon you?” He (saww) replied, “Indeed I feel good to hear its recitation from others”. Thereafter Ibn Mas’ood would recite Quran and the Messenger of Allah would listen to it while tears rolled down his cheeks.

It is reported that once the Holy Prophet (saww) told Ibn Mas’ood, “Recite Quran in my presence”. Ibn Mas’ood began reciting Suratun-Nisaa (Chapter 4) and when he reached the verse, which reads: ‘So how shall it be when We bring from every nation a witness and We bring you as a witness to them?’(4:41) Ibn Mas’ood noticed that the Holy Prophet (saww) was weeping profusely and then he (saww) said to him, “Stop! It suffices here for now”.  (Al-Mahajjatul-Baydha)

The Holy Prophet (saww) once said, “Indeed I have knowledge of one such verse, which if the people took (acted upon) it, it would be sufficient for them. The verse is: ‘And whoever is wary of Allah, He shall make a way out for him and provide for him from whence he does not reckon’.” (65:2-3) And then he (saww) kept repeating the verse. (Quran-o-‘Itrat)
